A position leading the Next Gen Department at Transformation Church. This position provides leadership and management to TC’s Children’s, Youth, and Internship ministry teams and the people they minister to, providing them with the best opportunity to become fully mature followers of Christ. The Next Gen Pastor will be teachable and have a solid commitment to self and staff development. Viable candidates must give evidence of leading and appropriately holding accountable individuals, groups, and teams that produce measurable results against the predetermined goals and objectives. A participative, collaborative, team-oriented culture is the church’s desire, and these same values must characterize this leader.

Hands (Responsibilities + Duties)

Champion every age group from birth-college in the following ways:

  • Develop and implement a holistic family discipleship strategy for preschoolers, children, students, interns, and parents/guardians.
  • Recruit, train, and multiply staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Provide discipleship resources for TC Kids, TC Youth, and Formation Internship ministries.
  • Incorporating pastoral care into the ongoing organizational life of the organization for both staff and partners
  • Model a “leaders of leaders” mindset, providing support in the development (recruiting, training, supervising) and nurturing NextGen ministry staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Consistent assessment of teams and programs to ensure the effectiveness of the department
  • Lead a team in the development of infrastructure to ensure a solid NextGen department for all church attendees, both ground and global.
  • Review all curriculum and programming used by the church’s children’s ministry, youth ministry, and internship and ensure it is consistent with its core values, culture, and beliefs.
  • Establish a long-term vision for how the church engages children, youth, and interns (college-age adults).

Strategic Leadership

  • Helps the Department Directors (DD) and their teams interpret, understand, and carry out the Lead Pastor’s vision and strategic intent.
  • Tracks strategic initiatives by monitoring progress towards meeting goals and achieving benchmarks, analyzing data, ensuring follow-through on the part of key players, and sustaining momentum needed to drive these initiatives
  • Prepares and facilitates cross-departmental engagements to ensure organizational objectives are achieved
  • Clarifying the urgency and priority of action items for department staff
  • Keeping track of all the decisions, action items, owners, and timelines agreed to in meetings for later follow-up
  • Manage division budget and stewardship of finances

Leadership Development

  • Coaching and development in leadership and organizational culture.
  • Lead weekly team meetings (1:1 or group settings) in a timely fashion, with a plan in mind to include significant announcements/updates and leadership development training as needed
  • Overseeing the staffing, development, evaluation, and education of staff members of the Next Gen department.
  • Quarterly reviews for all direct reports, including occasional Mile Markers, Performance Improvement Plans, and Corrective Action
  • All other duties, as needed

Head (Responsibilities + Duties)

  • At least 5 years of NextGen ministry experience
  • Exceptional tact and discretion with confidential information
  • Exemplary organizational skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to sudden changes and new initiatives
  • Coaching and Teaching Ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Creativity and innovative thinking about ministering to the next generation.
  • Vision and organizational skills necessary to work effectively within the context of a large church with multiple staff members and ministries
  • Trained and knowledgeable in the practice of biblical counseling and current in best practices of biblical counseling
