Position Requirements: The role of the Audio Systems Engineer is essential for ensuring the technical integrity and functionality of audio systems with various projects. Responsibilities typically include designing, implementing, and maintaining audio systems and technologies, such as audio engines, processing algorithms, and hardware interfaces. Additionally, the Audio Systems Engineer (SE) is responsible for optimizing audio performance across different platforms and hardware configurations, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to audio systems and processing, collaborating with other engineers to integrate audio systems in projects, events, and conducting research and development to improve audio technologies and workflows. The Audio Systems Engineer (SE) also will be involved in testing and quality assurance processes to ensure that audio systems meet performance, stability, and compatibility requirements. Overall, the Audio Systems Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that audio systems are robust, efficient, and capable of delivering high-quality sound experiences across various applications, platforms and venues.

HANDS (Responsibilities + Duties)

  • Designing and developing audio systems: Creating architecture and specifications for audio systems, including audio engines, processing algorithms, and hardware interfaces.
  • Implementation: Writing code and scripts to implement audio systems within software applications or hardware devices.
  • Optimization: Optimizing audio performance for different platforms, hardware configurations, and resource constraints.
  • Integration: Collaborating with software engineers, hardware engineers, and other team members to integrate audio systems into larger projects or products.
  • Testing and debugging: Conducting thorough testing to ensure the functionality, stability, and quality of audio systems, and troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues that arise.
  • Documentation: Creating documentation for audio systems, including design documents, technical specifications, and user manuals.
  • Research and development: Staying updated on the latest audio technologies, techniques, and trends, and conducting research to improve audio systems and workflows.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with sound designers, composers, and other audio professionals to understand their needs and requirements and incorporate them into the design and implementation of audio systems.
  • Quality assurance: Participating in quality assurance processes to ensure that audio systems meet performance, stability, and compatibility standards.
  • Continuous improvement: Identifying areas for improvement in audio systems and processes and proposing and implementing solutions to enhance performance, efficiency, and usability.Provides clear, concise and timely communication of directives cross departmentally.

HEAD (Knowledge + Training)

  • 5 to 10 years of Professional experience
  • Ministry experience preferred
  • Provide support and preventative maintenance ministry-wide.
  • Ability to work systematically while managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to resolve conflict in a calming manner.
  • Has certifications and trainings CTS, L-Acoustics L-ISA, Pro Tools, Dante, Madi
  • Ability to develop teams and empower other leaders.
  • Support production areas with equipment maintenance & integration.
  • Assist with the training and development of TC Volunteers around production standards.
  • Plan, install, configure, and administer systems hardware/software and related infrastructure.
  • Proficient in a wide range of technology including but not limited to macOS, Windows, Adobe software, SSL,, L’Acoustics, JBL, QSYS, IT Networking, DanteAssist with other production duties ministry-wide as assigned by the Production Director.
  • Self-awareness to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Establish and implement systems, structures, training, and resources that equip, and empower.
  • Work closely with Senior Engineers to assure systems are on track, and that collaboration is happening.
